Welcome to the  Icelandic Camp 2011 website!

Our Mission:

To give young people throughout North America an opportunity to discover their Icelandic heritage.

Tradition and Heritage:

For over 30 years the Icelandic Camp has given young people a chance to study Icelandic language, learn about the Icelandic culture, sing Icelandic songs and create friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Located just 2 miles north of Gimli, Manitoba, Canada, Camp Veselka overlooks lovely Lake Winnipeg.  With a huge recreation room, dining area, 6 cabins, indoor showers and huge open fields Camp Veselka offers a wonderful place for all Icelandic campers to gather.

Thank you to everyone who made Icelandic Camp 2010 a great success.

Be sure to keep checking the website for details on next years camp and upcoming executive meetings and fundraising events.

Icelandic Camp 2010 will be present at the 91st Annual Icelandic National League of North America Convention in Toronto, Ontario.

The Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto has graciously given us some time to speak at the Annual General Meeting for the Icelandic National League.  I am very excited to be able to meet with many near and dear friends, as well as meet new people and let them all know about the Icelandic Camp and all the hard work that our executive and volunteers have done.  The convention runs from April 22nd - 25th, 2010.

Congratulations to our very own Chrstine Schimnowski on being chosen to the 2010 Snorri Program!  This is her first trip to Iceland and she is very excited to be a part of such a great program such as The Snorri Program.  All of us here at the Icelandic Camp are very excited and proud of you!  Have a blast in Iceland.

Dr. Ken and Mrs. Lorna Thorlakson send an early christmas gift to Icelandic Camp.

It with deep pride and great sense of community that I announce a wonderful gift from Dr. Ken and Mrs. Lorna Thorlakson of a $1000 donation towards our camp.  This donation will help give under privileged children a chance to attend camp where they will learn all things Icelandic.  Without the support of unbelievable people like Dr. and Mrs. Thorlakson our camp would not be what it is today.

A very big THANK YOU to them and to our many supporters who help Icelandic Camp continue to grow.
